Civic Arts doesn’t use prefabricated, top-down approaches in our engagement initiatives. Rather, we work with project partners to devise ways in which artists and culture bearers can help foster meaningful and robust civic engagement processes that are grounded within larger community conversations. Creative expression is critically important for all communities. It’s a fundamental way in which communities grow and create identity, and we feel that it is crucial to honor these identities and expressions in the engagement process.

As cutting edge practitioners, we work hand-in-hand with organizational partners and artists of all stripes to develop engagement projects and processes. We love working at new intersections and we know each project helps expand our understanding of the messy and fertile spaces between the arts and civic conversations.
